What devices does PhotoPills run on?
Any iPhone or iPad running iOS 12 or later. Any Android phone or tablet with Android 7.0 or later. The same app, the same features, on both platforms.
Augmented Reality views require a compass (magnetometer). On Android, check your device specs — most phones have one, some tablets don't.
What's the difference between PhotoPills and PhotoPills Premium?
The app is where most start. Premium is where PhotoPillers gather.
The PhotoPills app gives you every tool you need in the field, on your phone. Premium adds the comfort of a desktop planner, a 3D view of the world, and a place to connect with other PhotoPillers. It's where the future is being built. The app is a one-time payment. Premium is a subscription.
Is there a desktop version?
Yes, through PhotoPills Premium. The app on your phone, expanded to your computer for planning at home.
Does PhotoPills work offline?
Yes. PhotoPills calculates everything on your device. No internet needed for the sun, the moon, the Milky Way, or any of the calculators. Maps and elevation services need data, so plan with connection at home, then use AR views in the field. Zoom in on your map before you leave Wi-Fi. That way, it's cached and ready when you're offline.
Will I keep updates forever?
Yes. One payment, all updates included. We've been updating PhotoPills since 2013, and we keep at it.
What cameras does PhotoPills support?
Over 2,000 cameras, from full-frame to compact, from current to vintage. Professional filmmaking and film cameras too. If yours isn't on the list, email us at support@photopills.com and we'll add it in the next update. You can also create your own custom camera in the app.
Do I need photography experience to use PhotoPills?
No. PhotoPills works for beginners and pros. Start with the basics, grow with the app. Academy is built into the app, with written guides on every photography subject. Hundreds of free tutorials are online too.

Is there a free trial?

How do I get a refund?
On iOS, refunds are handled by the App Store directly. On Android, email us at support@photopills.com with the email tied to your purchase, and we'll process it.
If I bought it on one platform (iOS or Android), do I need to pay again on the other?
Yes. App Store and Google Play are separate stores. Apple and Google don't allow license transfers between them, so PhotoPills is one payment per platform.
